But now two PEGI age ratings for Europe have offered a clue at what may be coming next.
This last weekend, two high-profile Nintendo Switch 2 releases tentatively set for 2026 got their respective age ratings from PEGI (via My Nintendo News), the standard European game age-rating system.

It's received a PEGI 7 rating, the same as Splatoon 3.
We've double-checked the Splatoon Raiders age-rating on the European eShop pages and it's the same.
Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave - Official Reveal Trailer | Nintendo Direct Watch on YouTube Then we have Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave, the next entry in the long-running turn-based strategy series, which has been given a PEGI 12 rating in Europe, like previous Fire Emblem games Three Houses and Engage.
The intriguing thing about both updates is the timing: Nintendo appears to have updated them nearly at the same time.

With talk of a new Star Fox being real and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time getting a remake later this year, it's hard not to theorise a that new big Nintendo Direct focusing on the latter half of 2026 could be around the corner.
