Four years after the film's release, Lena Headey has finally revealed her cut role in Thor: Love and Thunder.

"I wasn't in it, but I worked on it. There were three of us. We were [a] coven of witches," Headey told ScreenRant. "I think it was Taika's invention, and they were kind of Thor's guide in the underworld, but they were very, very funny and kind of insane. I think there was this whole story of like, 'They got fired,' when actually it was just like, 'What are they doing here?' But I think the intention was to find this land for them to have their own adventures. It was myself, Angus Sampson, and Da'Vine Joy, so it was quite a trio of madness."

Though Thor: Love and Thunder is very light in tone (and honestly quite goofy), there are some dark elements – mainly in Christian Bale's Gorr the God Butcher, who vows to kill all gods after his daughter Love dies. Because grief is an overall theme within the film, a trip to the underworld would've made perfect sense. And who wouldn't want to see Headey, best known for her role as the wicked Cersei Lannister in Game of Thrones, play a witch?

The Taika Waititi-directed movie ended up being a bit polarizing among fans, and holds the lowest Rotten Tomatoes score out of all of the Thor movies. A fifth Thor movie may be on the way, but, according to Chris Hemsworth, this seems dependent on the outcome of Avengers: Doomsday.

Headey can be seen next in the action thriller Ballistic, and just wrapped filming on Red, White, and Royal Wedding, where she plays Princess Catherine in the follow-up to the Prime Video rom-com Red, White, and Royal Blue.

Ballistic hits theaters on April 17. Next up for Marvel is Avengers: Doomsday, which arrives in theaters on December 18. For more, check out our list of the most exciting upcoming movies in 2026 and beyond.
