Subscribe to our newsletter Despite some debunking from James Gunn, it looks like Adria Arjona is playing Maxima in Superman sequel Man of Tomorrow after all.The announcement comes from Variety, who were one of the outlets that reported that Arjona, among other actors, had screen-tested for the role.

Gunn shot down the screen-testing report, which listed Marisa Abela, Ella Purnell, and Arjona as finalists.

Even more curious is the fact that Gunn has previously stated that Arjona would make a great Wonder Woman, but the Amazonian warrior has yet to be cast in the new DCU.Maxima is an alien queen from the planet Almerac who comes to Earth with the intention of finding a mate...

and she quickly decides that Superman is the only worthy option.
